Beatitude Gardens
Food Distribution
Beatitude Gardens has two modes of food distribution:
-
Market-style sales at Todd's Table
-
Donations to local families and hunger relief organizations
Producing over 2,000 lbs of produce every year, there is plenty to share and Beatitude Gardens deeply cares about sharing the harvest. Every year food we grow is donated to local families and local agencies addressing food insecurity. Most of this effort is done in partnership with Blackburn's Chapel and Green Valley Elementary School to supply fresh produce along with non-perishables to families needing food assistance during the summer months. The Gardens have also donated to local organizations such as Casting Bread Food Pantry, Hunger and Health Coalition, Hospitality House, and Ashe Really Cares in order to supply food relief efforts with fresh, healthy options.
Please contact Demir Turan with any inquires for produce donations during the growing season, May-November.
In 2017, we expanded our efforts beyond mere relief in the launching of Todd’s Table, a market stand currently located in the Blackburn's Chapel parking lot. Todd's Table helps generate income to sustain our garden programs, while providing access to fresh produce in a community 11 miles from the nearest grocery store. Todd's Table makes this produce accessible to lower-income residents through vouchers to GVS families and the "Todd's Table Credit"-- a fund that anyone can access when they are short of cash, up to $20 a week.
Visit Todd's Table Saturdays, 9am-12pm June-October.
